Patel Hardware occupies a double-width shop on Surat's Ring Road, stacked floor to ceiling with pipes, fittings, power tools, cement bags, and everything a contractor might need on short notice. With over 500 SKUs - many of them small items like screws, washers, and brackets sold by weight - keeping an accurate inventory was a constant headache. Patel and his two billing-counter staff relied on memory and periodic physical counts. Items would run out without warning, forcing customers to try the competitor three shops down. Re-ordering was guesswork: sometimes they over-stocked slow-moving items, tying up cash, while fast-moving ones sat at zero for days.

The feature that convinced Patel to try Hisab Expert was voice entry. Twice a week a truck arrives with wholesale stock, and Patel personally unpacks it in the back room. His hands are full of boxes, his gloves are dusty, and typing on a phone screen is impractical. With voice entry he simply says the item name and quantity out loud - “PVC elbow 1-inch, 50 pieces” - and the app creates or updates the inventory record. He reviews the list each morning before the wholesale market opens and places orders accordingly. Stockouts have dropped dramatically - he estimates he has lost fewer than five sales to out-of-stock items in the last three months, compared to several per week before.

Patel also gave his two billing-counter employees limited access through the app's employee feature. They can look up prices and record sales but cannot edit stock levels or view profit margins. This means customers get served faster - the staff no longer have to shout across the shop to ask Patel for a price - and Patel keeps control over the numbers that matter. The shop now runs more smoothly than it ever did on paper, and Patel is already planning to open a second branch, confident that the same system will scale.
